An AI-enabled production partner — London & Dorset
Built by filmmakers.
Staffed by filmmakers.
Halation combines proprietary workflows with a team of AI-fluent production professionals, integrated alongside live productions — solving creative and technical problems in lockstep with the director, producer, DOP and VFX team.
A production partner.
With different tools.
What we are
We work on set, in prep, and in post — adding capability to productions, never subtracting from them.
Purpose-built workflows. A crew that speaks the language of the floor and the suite. No synthetic performers. No replacement framing. The filmmaker retains creative control, always.
Three things,
done properly.
How it works
Proprietary workflows
Specific, repeatable pipelines built for recurring production problems. Considered, tested, debuggable — not a prompt layer on a public model. Each one solves a bounded problem and integrates with existing production software.
AI-fluent production professionals
People who have worked on set, who understand the grammar of production, and who can sit in a producer's chair, a colourist's suite or a VFX review and speak the language fluently.
Inside live production
We don't deliver a file and walk away. We partner across the arc — development, pitch, prep, shoot, post. Day-rates and project-rates, not subscriptions.
Specific problems,
specific solutions.
Workflows
Director treatment visualisation
Trained on a director's own references — treatment visuals and look development at speed, without the usual timeline or cost.
Pre-viz & storyboards
Built from actual location data, drone scouts and reference stills — never generic imagery.
On-set problem-solving
Continuity, reframe options and rapid VFX pre-comps while the unit is still on the floor.
Post-production acceleration
Roto, wire removal, background enhancement and reframing — trained on the production's own dailies.
What we stand for.
PrinciplesCraft over output
The work has to be beautiful first. Everything we build is in service of taste, intent and story — never a substitute for any of them.
Guardrails, not guesswork
Explicit restraints around performance, likeness and authorship. We do not build workflows that replace or synthesise human performance. The filmmaker retains creative control. Always.
The crew, augmented
We add capability to existing productions, we do not subtract from them. Our team works alongside the unit, not in place of it.
Slow on demos, long on delivery
We say no to work that doesn't match our capability. We do not claim to do things we haven't done.
ha·la·tion
/ həˈleɪʃ(ə)n / — noun, photographicThe soft red-orange bloom around bright highlights when light passes through film emulsion and bounces back from the layer behind.
Technically, it's a flaw — an artifact of the medium. In practice, it's one of the most recognisable signatures of celluloid: the warmth that digital cinema spends millions trying to recreate.
It's what happens at the edge of the frame, around the highlights, where something beautiful emerges from an interaction with the medium.
That's what we believe this technology should be in a production: the warm edge around the work, not the centre of it. The bloom, not the source of the light.
Halation is a sister company to In Color Productions Ltd — a boutique production company working across commercials, music videos and film, with credits spanning O2, Budweiser, Converse, Blur and John Newman, and recognition at Cannes Lions, D&AD and the British Arrows.
